A Southwest Kitchen . . .
The photos above show the kitchen of our friends, Tami and Mark, who live in New Mexico. Tami designed her backsplash using 1" tiles made of recycled material, and she asked us to create 2" x 5" tiles to complement her kitchen and dining room. She sent us photos of her curtains and upholstered chairs, and we went to work. After trying out several different designs, Tami and Mark chose this half-circle, partial square design. She asked us to add a few touches of bright yellow and bright green to some of the tiles, which you can see on the photo showing 20 of the tiles. The colors we used are almond, tangerine, espresso, and dark red.
A Craftsman-Amish-Tuscan Kitchen . . .
This is my own (Judy's) kitchen backsplash. My house has a lot of gold and red wood, from the cabinets to the baseboards to the wood floor. I love the look and feel of a Tuscan kitchen, but my aesthetic runs more toward Craftsman style geometric shapes than grape leaves. I also love Amish quilts, and my final design reflects all of these influences. The tiles in the center are 5" square; I used black, red, and sunflower glass. I also made black glass border tiles, 2" wide, to serve as a frame. My lovely daughter, Wendy, installed the tiles.
A Lush Florida Garden Kitchen . . .
A customer in Florida wanted us to match the scene outside her dining room window for her kitchen remodel. She was tiling her kitchen with white ceramic tiles and wanted six custom glass tiles for her backsplash. She sent us photos of her backyard, and told us specifically that she has pink, yellow, red, and orange flowers growing that she wanted included.
